Ready to glide with the burning of carbon dioxide

This is expressed by Ray Wilkinson, a lecturer at the University of Herfordshire in England, where he would use the greenhouse gas fuel for a rocket to Mars.

[Ray Wilkinson, Rocket Scientist]
"What our study is that if we can burn anything with carbon dioxide, so it can be converted back into the form of carbon. Energy can be taken during the process, and that's where a little out when carbon negative."
This is a hybrid rocket motor, burning solid fuel with the help of gas, usually nitrogen oxides. Wilkinson will use CO2 instead.

[Ray Wilkinson, Rocket Scientist]
"It seems like a dream, but science has advanced and successful. We can burn it with powdered aluminum and carbon, and take oxygen from carbon dioxide, and convert the carbon back into carbon.

Burning carbon dioxide with aluminum powder works well in the laboratory, but difficult to apply when the launch rocket. So, we need a new technique.

[Ray Wilkinson, Rocket Scientist]
"If we use the nitrogen oxides, which we wear, with carbon dioxide, then we do not have to use aluminum powder. We can use a mixture of aluminum powder in the plastic. Nitrogen oxides will burn the plastic, and carbon dioxide to burn aluminum. This makes our job much easier and it is very likely used this year. "

95 percent of the Martian atmosphere is carbon dioxide, to be used as fuel for return to Earth.

Rocket a manned mission to Mars has been considered a major step in the world of space science.
